  • From the National Federation of Abstracting & Indexing Services: "Miles Conrad Memorial Lecture Award" and "Honorary Fellow," the latter for "his lifelong contribution to shaping the current secondary publishing and electronic information communities."

Carlos A. Cuadra

Dr. Carlos A. Cuadra, co-founder of Cuadra Associates, is internationally recognized in the field of library and information science. He established the Annual Review of Information Science and Technology and served as Editor for its first 10 years, and he also created, in 1972, one of the world's first online retrieval services, SDC Search Service, which received the "Product of the Year" award from the Information Industry Association. He also:

  • served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Information Industry Association

  • was appointed by three U.S. presidents--Nixon, Ford, and Carter--to serve on the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science

  • served nine years on the Governing Board of Chemical Abstracts Service and its successor, the Governing Board for Publishing of the American Chemical Society
