Bucks County Historical Society
The Bucks County Historical Society includes the Spruance Library, the major research center for local and family history related to Bucks County and the surrounding region, and the Mercer Museum, which is recognized as having one of the most extensive collections of artifacts associated with pre-1850 American life-ways and technological history. The collections document not only local history, but also culture and folk art, tools and artifacts associated with pre-industrial trades, agriculture, domestic work, and the life and work of Henry Chapman Mercer.
Public access to the Society's collections is provided through its STAR system catalog, RolloPAC. Named after Henry Mercer's beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Rollo, RolloPAC uses STAR's ability to search across applications and retrieve information from four catalogs -- archives, library, museum, and obituaries -- even though the four catalogs adhere to different standards and have significantly different structures. In addition to searching across collections, users can search specifically on individual collections.
